the Green Channel allows for UK patent applications to be fast-tracked if the invention relates to green or environmentally friendly technology

In order to access the Green Channel, an Applicant must provide a request in writing, indicating how the invention covered by their patent application is environmentally friendly. They must also indicate which action(s) they wish to accelerate i.e. search and/or examination and/or publication. The request may be made on filing the application or at any later date.

There is also a database that can be accessed online and searched to identify published applications and granted patents which have previously accessed the Green Channel.
